The artist Zhao Guanghui focuses his works on the Human utilisation and thus disruption of Nature. His installations portray hybrids such as fishes transformed into cars and other animals modified into cars hatching from eggshells etc. The theme of Zhao’s works is evolution, commenting on the development of science and technology and the affects it has cause for mankind. Zhao is using humour in his work to highlight the idea that by machines taking over the tasks of domestic animals, they are causing the animals to evolve and readapt, furthering themselves away from what initially fired human imagination.
Zhao’s works have been widely exhibited in notable galleries and museums across Mainland China, as well as in Paris, Venice, London, New York, Norway and Sweden.
