Moving through the Bauhinia trees, the view arrives at the banks of the river, where the air is filled with the elements of wind and fire. In the center of the scene depicted in “YES SIR! NO.2”, there is the historical dust of the “Burning of Thirteen Factories” in the distant background. The thick flames and mist in the foreground echo this, creating a visual “special effect” from the shooting location of the scene depicting the historical event in the movie “The Opium War” (1997, directed by Xie Jin) in “YES SIR! NO.1″. This scene was filmed at Guangzhou Street, the first film and television base in Hengdian, which was constructed based on historical records and recreated the cityscape of Guangzhou around 1840. The imagery extends to the right side of the “YES SIR! NO.3”, showcasing the coastal port area of the Pearl River Delta with landmarks such as the Humen Bridge, Shenzhen Bay, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Amidst the branches, fish, insects, flowers, and birds from the Canton Export Paintings of the 18th-19th centuries traverse, while people linger under the Greeting Pine (Ying Ke Song), watching with uncertainty from where they come.
In the distance, the Double Creek Villa and Mountain Villa Hostel on Baiyun Mountain are faintly visible. Down the mountain, the densely packed urban villages and the CBD on the horizon rapidly rise and fall. Amidst the ever-evolving urban spectacle of the Pearl River Delta, the ships from the worlds once seen sailing due to the unrestricted trade, the old scenes of Nam Van in Macau, have disappeared into the sea pearl stones of the underground and the passage of time. Traces and clues of the survival of the people in this area, such as the Eastern Princess, once renowned for the movie “God of Gamblers” (1990, directed by Wong Jing), which was not only a gambling ship but also a diplomatic luxury cruise ship used by political figures in the 1960s and 1970s, intermittently appear and disappear, just like all scenes repeatedly rewritten, layering upon each other and telling their obscure origins.
